You're right. I should have said the full range on the HP Pantone list. HP claim it to be about double the number which is printable by Epson printers at similar prices.
Considering the ease with which it does print Pantone colours it is quite remarkable.

That would surprice me somewhat. Had you said 60-70% I might have let it
pass, but to the best of my knowledge no process color system, or even
proofer can reproduce all Pantone colours.
