I too have found PerfectProof SemiMatte to be an excellent proofing surface thanks to a recommendation from Richard Kendrick. However there are supply problems depending on where you live. I have found that the HP Proofing Semi-Gloss is virtually identical and takes colour the same.

Dear Bob

Thanks for the name check! Well just in case anyone was thinking who is this guy Kendrick it's Bob's new name for me <BG>

For anyone interested, this Belgium paper when combined with their PerfectProof inks provides an extended gamut and great image stability.

It's amazing how little the prints change, when measured with a Spectro from straight out of the printer to several hours after. From a proofing point of view it gives me a comfortable feeling knowing that unless the customer is really careless and leaves the proofs in direct sun for a couple of weeks, the CMYK proofs we supply will stay as they are intended.

To get this stuff you will have to import directly from Belgium though for anyone in the US they have an office over there.

Cheers

Richard
