Dear List,
I am having some printing done by a company that is very helpful. I asked if they had a profile they could send so I could soft-proof the file before sending to them.
They sent me a PPD file. Is there any way to convert that to icc?
What they sent you is a Postscript Page Description file, for a printer.
An ICC file is a color configuration file, that comes very close to matching the computer/printer color on this end, with the computer/printer color on that end.
Or how could I use it? I will be working in Indesign, or possibly PS, but sending him the file as an exported PDF in Adobe 1998, which is what they like.
Does the ppd specify the printer name/model??
I've always exchanged ICC profiles with my prepress house. Never ppd's.
I don't see how a ppd is going to match your colors on their printers.
