I had this problem too and the answer was to get rid of the Nikon software
from the system.

If you are not going to use Nikon then this is not an issue.

Just been having a long discussion about VS v. Nikon scan with another
colleague. He has had problems with a colour caste in VS and he also reckns
that the dig ICE software  is better in nikon scan than the cleaning in VS.
anyone have anything to say about this? My own experience with scanning pics
for a recent show was that with VS set to "light" infrared cleaning, I have
not had one duff scan yet which needed spotting.
