I do not know why they choose the UK rather than e.g. France, where the laws
and attitudes are more relaxed, and the weather more amenable for outside
work.

I would not take on an "adult" assignment, but I would have the legal
department of my photographer's British Institute available if there was any
query.

Make sure the models know what is intended, and get out of the country
before anyone sees the pictures!

I have no intention of taking any pornographic or indecent pictures, but see

This is the Internet Watch foundation, but most of it seems to be relevant
to most pictures.

They are most concerned about children:

"The law on images of child abuse is relatively clear. It means any images
of children, apparently under 16 years old, involved in sexual activity or
posed to be sexually provocative."

I had heard that any nude picture of any child was illegal, but this seems
not to be the case: there is a charming painting of a child on the edge of a
lake contemplating a swim, and I would like to re-create it
photographically.

Offences include taking pictures,

Downloading them from the internet

Possessing pictures

It seems that the worst offence is publishing

If you take a picture and it turns out less artistic, and more pornographic,
than you intended, this would probably be a very minor offence if you
immediately destroyed it - avoid using the high street photo lab: is this
why digital is preferred?
