Some time ago is but that, the Association (AoP) has taken a landmark piece
of legislation, drew upon past experience and kicked into touch with the
second edition of Beyond the Lens. Similarly, the administration has got
through a period of restructuring in line with the real-world interests of
the membership. The AoP website is now dynamite, with members having a very
effective and successful use and control of on-line portfolios to attract
commissions - very good marketing. The recent AoP web seminar in Manchester
on Saturday really rocked, you would have benefited immensely.
I tried hard not to sound too critical of AoP and all comments were made as constructive criticism only. I cannot stand people who stand outside of organisations throwing stones at the hard work of others. AoP was the organisation I chose as it was most closely aligned with my role and aspirations in the photography business and nothing has come to my attention to change that view.
I believe there have been considerable changes and that the best way of getting what I would want out of it would be by being an active member. It is because of the AoP and Manchester's 'Redeye' that I am here on PRODIG following their 'Magenta Sky' seminar a year or so ago and for that I am truly grateful. That gets things almost back on topic.
I appreciate and respect what you say, the Awards are a different issue andThe most important thing to me in business right now is marketing followed by the protection of rights and standards. I think that AoP have started to deal with the first in a very positive way. The second still seems a little in the background but I am open minded about this. My hard earned cash is very much in my new agents basket right now but if she works out then I can see my venturing back to the fold. Ahhh.
they in turn, are changing in relation to the needs of the membership.
Choice of judges and why, is something that has been, (and) is being
carefully and continually considered all the time.
Basically, the Association knows to the bone that we live in very interesting times. So come back <G>
In a blatant attempt to bring this finally back on topic has the new 'beyond the lens' dealt with digital photography and web usage in more detail than the first?
Kind regards
