How do they usually get work then? What they should have said is 'That's
what happens when you use a firm that doesn't know how to accept work on
disk'.

Tell him that he's made you look stupid in front of your client, and
he's made himself look stupid to anyone who actually knows about this
stuff.

A little hint about mailing lists and ongoing discussions wouldn't hurt
either, especially the bit about letting the list know the final
outcome...
