Graeme,I'm only familiar with Minoltas most excellent Raw file processing software 
which
does indeed allow unsharp mask levels etc to be applied to the file BUT it can only be
saved as a TIFF or BMP ,the RAW file remains untouched.
I suspect this is the case with other systems though as often happens I may be wrong.
