Thanks Michael and Will. The Canon and Phase One software don't sharpen the raw file, but the resulting tiff - the raw file remains untouched - so is there a difference to the final tiff if you apply the USM before you process the file or afterwards in Photoshop - or is it all just "pixel-mashing" (Lovely term Will - would sir like his pixels mashed or dropped): Apologies, maybe I didn't explain myself clearly in the first place.
