I've had great results with Colorvision stuff. Spyder included. The company is incredible for support.
If you call you will probably talk to an engineer..not a tele marketer type.

Had a frirnd who bought ascanner on Ebay and it came with an old spyder. Software was MAC he uses windows. Downloaded Win version (all updates etc are always free) and discovered that his serial number was MAC only. Called CV and they gave him a new serial number..no cost. We tried to run the software and it kept hanging up. Called CV and they sais " What color insert is on your Spyder?" We told them and they told us that it was a old model that would not work with the new software and THEY SENT US A NEW SPYDER FOR FREEEEEEEE! No charge for shipping even.

This is what I call Support.

EyeOne is Good but $$$ pricey and..I doubt that huge cororation will ever give you this king of support.

CV offers printer profiling packages too and there are a number of scanner only products available.
Consider basICColor Scan from www.profilecity.com.

I am looking for a solution myself and have so far short-listed the EyeOne
Photo (around 1200) plus a set of industry standard targets to calibrate
the scanners as well (about 250 I'm told).

Just a quick word of warning, the 1200 photo package comes with a reflective scanner target, but does not have this module activated, scanner profiling is extra (there is a design package which includes it).
Otherwise in the very limited use it's had, so far so good...
