Jay,

I have the LaCie Photon 20 (LCD), a LaCie Electron 22 (CRT) and the Formac 1740 (LCD). They are all calibrated with BasICColor/Squd ( which I have to say is excellent !). I personally find the best screen with the most information is the LaCie Photon 20, it has far more detail in the shadows than its CRT sibling, achieves a more neutral grey and appears to have a wider colour gamut.

The only concern I have with the LCD's is that images appear sharper than on the CRT, so I'm inclined to use the CRT to evaluate sharpening and any 'stepping' in diagonals.

Incidentally the LaCie Photon 20 has the exact same image area as the 22" CRT. It also seems to be much better built than the Formac, comes with a hood ( which really makes no difference ) and a sturdy desk clamp stand which is fantastic as it saves even more desktop space making it very good value compared to the other 20" LCDs out there

All the best,

Barry
