Hi Guys I'm using a Dimage 5400 with the Dimage Scan software that ships with it and I'm having some problems, was wondering if anyone had experienced similar or had some tips to help me get round this.
I'm scanning some unmounted Velvia 50 at the moment and some of the shots are fairly dense. I'm finding that under a standard lightbox with loupe, I'm getting sufficient detail but the scanner doesn't seem to be able to deliver the detail and with ICE/Grain Dissolver/Pixel Polish turned off, I get nothing. The shots are building silhouettes with a pale sky - you can hold them up to the light and can see the shot with no difficulty. If I apply pixel polish, the image appears but the sky colour is ridiculously exaggerated, I don't want to mess around with exposure control because that will affect the whole image.
