Hi Ian

Thanks for the tips, appreciate your help. I think I need to buy that
whole IT8 page - most of the emulsions I use have dedicated targets. Are
these targets good and have you compared results to those from the likes
of Fuji et al?

I had looked at Vuescan when I got the Dimage but at the time, Ed was
still developing the drivers and I thought I'd wait until it had been
tested and bugs ironed out. That is an attractive feature because I
would prefer to have individual control over ICE/Grain/Pixel Polish.

I've noticed the softness with the scanning as well, I had a naturally
lit portrait and it scanned looking as if I'd focused on the person's
ear versus their face so I started experimenting. I find that even if
you target an area for focus using autofocus, it prescans fine but in
the final scan it's a bit softer. I just manually control it as you
suggest but its interesting that you say that because I thought that
perhaps the transparency wasn't completely even and maybe the scanner
had focused on a slightly uneven part but it seemed fine.

Thanks

Alex

>>I do however recommend you get an it8 target from
http://www.targets.coloraid.de and purchase a serial for vuescan. Ed
has now managed to program
