[PRODIG] Auto rooftop shooting

I plan to do quite a lot of shooting for coffee growers, nurseries and 
flower growers in this area.  I want to mount a platform on the top of 
my 1995 Ford Windstar van, so that I can drive into the fields and get 
high aspect shots without messing with a folding ladder or cherry 
picker.
Something that will support about 300 pounds.  (not that I'm that 
heavy.  Just want a little leeway.  Ha!)

Anyone had any experience rigging something like this, without totally 
ruining the aesthetics of the vehicle, and without it costing a 
proverbial arm and leg?  (I imagine I could build this myself....but 
would reduce the value of the vehicle to about $27)

Any help is welcomed.
