try to find your local grip house. Film grips should be able to rig something out of speed rail which will do the job . They should be able to advise on the best "off the shelf" products to use roof-rack-wise. Any way a good place to start.

Anyone had any experience rigging something like this, without totally ruining the aesthetics of the vehicle, and without it costing a proverbial arm and leg? (I imagine I could build this myself....but would reduce the value of the vehicle to about $27)
