Just been informed that my G5 1.8GHz is awaiting collection. As I'm upgrading from a G3 350MHz, this really is very exciting!
Simple question ... is it still advisable to partition the 160GB HD along the lines of:
1. OSX & OS9
2. Applications
3. Data (for file storage)
4. Photoshop scratch disk
I know some recommend separating OSX & OS9, but on the iBook that I have OSX & OS9 along with applications are combined on the same partition and it seems to work well. I haven't encountered any problems and I can easily change the start-up disk from X to 9 and boot up in 9. Any reason to have the applications on a separate partition? Any reason to separate OSX & OS9?
An earlier posting stated that each partition takes an 'overhead' and therefore wastes disk space unnecessarily and that the more partitions the slower they all run. Not sure this would be an issue, especially as I've mostly been using a G3 until now.
Thanks for any advice. Tariq
