Hi

Sorry, but no OS9 anymore, it will only ever be 'classic' from now on.

Look at the way OSX organises things and work with it - applications in the
applications directory and user files in the user area. A lot of
applications in X will only work properly if they are in the apps directory
(an example is the still underused 'services' capability) OSX expects
everything to be where it wants it to be ... No more moving the system
folder to deep inside someone's personal directories :-))

Disks are cheap, so many of the older reasons for partitioning have been
sidelined. A spare disk for PS scratch is ok. I only keep a separate
partition for 9 and X since I have some s/w that only runs in 'real' OS9 and
don't have a G5! The quick fix of being able to boot into 9 to cure some OSX
oddity is gone, so take precautions - one of which is a good book on OSX! If
you have been using Macs for a while it really is worthwhile reading up on
OSX, there are loads of little bits that you might never come across if you
just keep using your new machine in the old Mac way...

Now to go off and fire up my Macintosh Portable with System 6.0.8 on it - no
anti-aliased text, real icons, and a control panel that looks ... just like
the OSX System Preferences :-))

bye for now
