Another solution might be something like the Apacer Disc Steno CP100
Portable CD Burner. I don't have one but I guess it's easy enough to use
(pop in the CF and a blank CD, press go then have a beer) and small enough
to reduce the theft risk.

Shipping items back to base is not without risk and, irrespective of the
cost of the HD, the thought of loosing GBs of images rather than a CDs worth
would put me off using the HD option.

Maybe I'm paranoid but we are back to the 'all the eggs in one basket'
scenario. Thinking about it, it's true I am paranoid, I prefer to use 512MB
CF cards rather than larger 1GB+ for the same reason ;-)
