When connected, the iPod performs an image count. You could always
visually check the images and the number stored on the CF card via the
LCD monitor on the camera body. I share your reservation and was careful
to check how many images were recorded by the camera and made sure that
they correlated with the iPod. As the iPod effectively mirrors the
contents of the CF card, not a lot can go grow although it can't
differentiate multiple instances of the same file so you can download
the same card twice if you start two separate sessions although it
didn't overwrite the existing, it just created an a duplicate folder
when used on a MAC. Not sure how this would work on a PC.

I've seen a lot of positive comments about the Flash Trax but you're
then on the fringe of a small laptop so for the sake of a couple hundred
more quid, you get a much greater level of functionality. It's always
going to end up being a compromise of some sort.
