Yes! I was about to ask a very similar question. On the Mac I use Disk Tracker, which allows me to search by names, files, etc. on a disk catalog, between other good things - although it has not previews. What could it be a similar program to Disk Tracker on the Wintel World? I tried Thumbs but it does not look to be from the same purposeland ;-) .
