I have the eyeone display and have mixed feelings too. The display
(Mitsubishi 17" CRT) has a problem with near highlight values
(r245,g245,b245) which show up most in areas of cloud and sky. Being more
careful with the brightness helps, but it's not perfect. I do find the
eyeone display software a little hard to use - getting the red, green and
blue sliders to keep still is frustrating - I feel another thread coming
on!!

Dear Paul

When it was somewhat unusual to buy calibration kit, we invested in what at the time was considered state of the art monitor calibration equipment and the recommended software to run it. It has never missed a beat, works swiftly and has always produced excellent results on the Macs and PC's, and is as good now as the day it was bought. I urge anyone really serious about their colour to buy the very best whatever that is at the moment. What's our kit? Its an Xrite DTP 92 and Optical.

I am dismayed to hear of all the tales of woe of unreliable lesser units out there.
To not be able to rely on your calibration equipment is worrying at the very least and in such cases I would strongly advise the purchase of one of Neil Barstow's and Thomas Holm's excellent print verification kits. Actually we have one here just so we have a final visual check. Sleep easier at night!

Cheers

Richard
