AFAICT I think it should. The printer profile alters the image for the vagaries of your particular printer. Nobody cares what it looks like. The proof set up is primarily to view (soft proof) what your image will look like as a CYMY print (amongst other things). View >proof colours shows you what your image will look like as a CMYK print, the options for which you choose in proof set up. Clear as mud?
