Hi

I do some teaching of evening classes around Leicester, related to digital
photography. Of the total 20 or so students, there are the usual range of
retired people and hobbyists looking to move to digital, but there are also
6 who have actually stated some of their aims as to be able to take better
photos at work for use in brochures and leaflets...

I'm grateful that I have the skills to both both 'do' and 'teach' and really
enjoy some of the things I can learn from someone with 50 years of darkroom
experience exploring the digital world (even if I do have to do it on
Windoze PCs :-))

On the other hand, there are those people doing it for work... Am I really
contributing to the decline and fall of photography as we know it? I've had
a lead that resulted in some PR work from one of them, and I certainly kept
a firm hold of my rights to the images in that. People are going to take
their own pictures anyway, whatever we say or feel ...

Businesses are going to need to perceive real value in 'getting someone in'
to do the work. Smaller businesses, in particular, are going to take quite
some persuading to pay several hundred pounds for some of my time when they
feel they can do it for themselves, and own the images outright.

bye for now
