Dear Kim I use the 17-40 f4, 24-80 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8 with the CANON 1Ds. Both W/A zooms show barrel distortion and the 70-200 vignetting, wider than f5.6 and pincushion distortion, though not too badly. The 70-200 also has sickle shaped shadows at apertures wider than f5.6. Canon seem to regard all this as normal though I am still fighting with them and the supplier. I have no experience of Canon W/A prime lenses but I am considering buying a 24mm. I hope to get one for a test soon. The 1Ds has a great chip but I dislike some of the functionality , the small wheel by the shutter has too many functions, two wheels to adjust focus points, the distortion on the lenses and the hard to use 550EX. The solution would be Canon body with Nikon lenses and flash but I fear that's a fantasy too far. I use Panotools to correct and then the images are so much better than scanned film from Rollei 6008. Shooting Raw seems to cope with the wildly variable flash exposure, shooting raw seems to cope with most things but file storage is fun.
