A friend of mine is working with PS 6 at present (Mac). He has some .jpg files shot on the 1ds in Matrix 1 which is the sRGb colour space and wants to make them 1998 for supply.
Can anyone make the conversion / assign profile issue clear to me so I can pass on the info'. I have looked at previous posts but cannot find what I am after. When the file is opened in PS6 (unlike PS7 or later which tells you that you have a file "with an embeded profile that does not match the current colour space", it being sRGB and the working space being Adobe1998) it just opens as untagged. Now do we need to A, CONVERT from this untagged profile (which was camera sRGB) to 1998 Or B, ASSIGN the 1998 profile because it is telling us the document is untagged and we should just give it a profile. Logically I thought it should be converted as this is what subsequent versions of PS ask if you want to do when the image is initially opened. PS6 does not seem to recognise the sRGb camera tag and just calls it untagged. (he has sent me a file and the srgb is recognised in my newer version of PS). Hope someone can enlighten me. cheers Stephen =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
