I had assumed that cameras like the Canon 10D were able to capture little more than the sRGB gamut, with AdobeRGB made available to suit the workflow's of photographer's who are used to using ARGB as their work space. Is this at all accurate? I'm sure someone on this list will have 1st hand knowledge of the colour capabilities of these DSLRs, can anyone comment?
Neil, is this what you're referring to here?
Isn't this why we are getting more Adobe RGB compliant capture software?perhaps. and perhaps it's sRGB with an Adobe RGB tee shirt?
I know a mantra of 'Adobe RGB good, sRGB bad' has built up, but is there now a suggestion that we are worse off by converting RAW to ARGB (because that's the space we're accustomed to working in) and would be better off with sRGB?

your RAW converter - not output as sRGB and then convert to ARGB 1998.
Is this just a matter of convenience, or are there real benefits you have found in going from RAW to ARGB? I know I should get on and do some testing for myself, but I'm very new to the 10D and with CS, VAT returns etc., my days are too short!!
Thanks, William Davies.
