<<I use a d100 and when used at 200asa, I am staggered at the quality of theses cameras. I recently had a few images for different jobs at 4 metres high. One was interpolated using fred mirandas step actions and the other with genuine fractals. Both looked good at the viewing distance and up close looked pretty good as well.
As long as the images are raw files and processed that way, it gives good results. The 1ds would be better if I could afford it. Yes obviously the larger digital backs will produce better quality, but for most of us the dslrs will do the job.>> (and other posters, etc)
Me too. Trying to figure out if/when I could afford a full-frame DSLR or digi MF back, but in the meantime, I continue to be hugely impressed with the image quality obtained by shooting RAW files in a Fuji S2. This is subjective, and nothing like Bob Croxford's analytical approach, but I just had some 100Mb scans done from 6x8 Provia trannies (my lab, Kodak scanner, dunno what spec but it cost them 45k) and frankly they don't look as good on-screen as my S2 files... And I think by now I've got my MF film technique sorted.
