>>Have some of you tested the RAID set up? Any advices? Precautions?<<

Fernand... I discussed this here a few months ago. I don't like the hassle
of burning backup CDs (I work alone.. no assistants to do the chore) and I
also like having instant access to my files. So I set up an extra computer
on the network just for storage with 4 120Gig drives in a mirrored RAID
arrangement for a total of 240Gigs of storage. If one HD fails, all I will
have to do is turn off the machine, replace the broken drive and turn it
back on. I now have another computer on the network with 2 120Gig drives
in it (mirrored) and I'm about to put two more drives in that machine. In
the big scheme of things, this really isn't very expensive and it gives me
instant access to all of my old files which are all backed up against hard
drive failure. They are NOT backed up against fire or theft, but neither
were all of those transparencies in the big old filing cabinets. HD failure
is my biggest concern. I lost about 80G of files last year due to simple HD
failure. I sent the drive to a data recovery firm but they said that since
the cause was a massive head crash, there was nothing they could do.
