So my question is it twofold really, what does the (1,1) mean? and why oh why does it not alter the available paper sizes?

I believe the 1,1 refers to which USB port the printer is connected on. The paper sizes offered are a function of the driver. I'm not familiar with that printer/driver combo. I've printed on a 1280 to US standard sizes so not particularly relevant to your situation. Are you sure the international sizes are in the driver you are installing. I know they should be, but Epson's done some unusual things with the OS-X drivers. In other words was this once working and now it isn't? Can you define a custom page size of the dimensions you want and get proper results? Tabloid extra is tabloid sized (11x17 inches) plus room for bleed and printer marks so it comes out to close to 13x19. I don't recall the precise dimensions.

that in the users library folder under printers there is nothing listed, instead it seems to be under the Computer library folder in the printers file.

That just means that the printer is available to any user and not restricted to just one particular user.
