Hello,

if you tested vuescan you should give SilverFast a try. It has built-in Negative
optimization called Negafix. The concept is similar to vuescan but I find it more
intuitive to use.

I have another question regarding the tonal info in color negs. I learnt back in the
analogue days that transparencies offer a higher tonal range than negs.
And why would the fact that there is a bigger tonal range lead to the conclusion that
more contrast needs to be applied? Or am I mixing tonal info and tonal range here? Is
tonal info of up to 14 fstops meant in a way as there can be a difference of 14 fstops
between the diffuse highlight and the shadows?

Thanks in advance to somebody who can explain this to me.

Merry Christmas.
