Hello: Deborah Davis has spoken highly of this list, and I see Jorge is one of the "listmoms" so I'm sure I'll fit right in amongst the rest of you "geeks" (and I mean that in the nicest way).
I've been involved with photography and digital imaging for a long while and am an active correspondent on many other forums. For the past five or six years I've been heavily involved in investigating metadata and image database issues, specifically those issues surrounding the description of images. Three years ago I launched "Controlled Vocabulary" (http://www.ControlledVocabulary.com/) to gather together the many resources I'd found during my research. Rather than ramble on, I'll be lazy and borrow the "blurb" that was used for the most recent PhotoPlus Expo where I was a panelist for the Stock Artists Alliance (http://www.stockartistsalliance.org/). "David Riecks is a highly visible correspondent on digital subjects and a working assignment and stock photographer. His love of travel that has taken him all over the world on assignments to photograph unique people and places. His stock images are represented by Mira and AGE Fotostock, as well as being sold direct from his own website. David was an early proponent of digital imaging and has become as "digital guru" to his peers. In addition to being a regular contributor on several professional forums, David gives seminars on creating image intensive websites and was one of the principals who developed Mira's "digital standards". He founded "Controlled Vocabulary," a resource to help others learn how best to build controlled vocabulary lists, thesauri, and keyword hierarchies for describing images in databases. He is currently working on a manual about preparing images for stock photography." Happy Holidays. David -- Creating an image database? be sure to visit (http://ControlledVocabulary.com/)!
