That's consistent with my experience. You could check the archive after
New Year for subject  "scanner lost after 10.3.2 upgrade"


Adaptec complain that Apple have changed the way scsi works in Panther.
Apple say it complies with standards. Microtek  giggled & looked at the
floor. The software was guiltless. I had the scanner visible but
unrecognised & crashing the software plus a backup tape sort of working.

Simon Grosset flogged me (ta!) a Belkin firewire->scsi adapter & I'm
relieved to report that this works fine. The adapter only takes one item
but is hot swappable. Like real scsi it must be on before you start.
