As I mentioned yesterday, I downloaded the two color images that Keith Cooper shared as part of the page he posted a few days ago (http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/bwfromcolor.html). I processed both according to steps 1 to 5 above. I also did a few variations with differing opacities and switching the Alpha 2 and 3 layers in the final blend.
Keith email me today, giving permission to show these, and he is welcome to incorporate them into his site above. See the different revisions here: http://www.riecks.com/forphotogs/revisions/ Here's what I did, all images have followed steps 1-4 above, some have additional steps, or changes. 1-colour-drcustom.jpg = All 5 steps as outlined above. 2-colour-drcustom.jpg = lower percent on final calculation than #1 3-colour-drcustom-rev23.jpg = reversed sources (Source 1 to "Alpha 3" and Source 2 to "Alpha2") 4colour-drcustom-plusR.jpg = same as #2, switched to RGB and did a "darken" mode calculation using Red channel as "source 1" 5-reality-drcustom.jpg = All 5 steps as outlined above. Deep shadow are a bit too dark, this one could benefit from moving to RGB and using a color to open shadows. Questions, comments and feedback are welcomed.
