Hi Tim, Thanks for your reply: This may be of interest to someone with a similar problem, so I reply on list.
>Are you trying to get the printer to pick up and address over DHCP - or >do you wish to manually configure it? DHCP failed, so I disabled it and had to hardware reset, so have tried reserving an address through the router, but it will only reserve addresses in the range. >> Epson WinAssist will only recognise IP addresses ending in 255. >That is *very* wrong - an IP address ending in 255 will be a broadcast address. WinAssist will not let you specify the last number - it inserts 255 for you! I have (re)enabled DHCP server on the NetGear FVL328 router/hub Internet access works OK, and DHCP works on everything else connected, including the HP JetDirect print server, on 169.254.92.173 I previously used a simple hub for the network, which seem to manage without knowing IP addresses. The router range is 192.168.0.2 to 51 subset mask 255.255.255.0 Dick =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
