Can't answer for the Minolta or Nikon Scanners but I ditched my Nikon LS4000 scanner for a Flextite Precision 2 scanner about 2 years ago and have not looked back.
Quality is excellent and, in my view, far superior to the two Nikon scanners I've owned. As more and more photographers move over completely to digital, quite a few Flextites are up for sale- for starters have a look on PRODIG's Items For Sale.
Very versatile since it scans everything from 35mm to 5 x 4 and 6 x 17 and is great for 35mm X-pan and Noblex film. Only drawback is it's a bit slow...but if you're on Mac OSX you can be doing other things whilst it's scanning.
I've got a digi slr but I do keep going back to my film cameras so I can't see me giving up my Flextight - just wish I could afford one of the new top of the range models for even better quality and speed.
Best of luck
