Yes, sad but true. It's why I went to Focus two years ago, but do not feel motivated to do so again. The whole event seemed like a shambolic bazaar and, er, unfocussed... Too many reps on too many stands were cruising on autopilot, with shamefully inadequate product knowledge. They look upon the event as a holiday from the office, a glorified car-boot sale, rather than an opportunity to display a product in depth to those like myself who find it difficult to get to see much pro kit on an everyday basis. They think all they have to do is flourish their product and we'll snap it up - fat chance, especially in today's very tough market for photography.
