What I can do to fix the yellow nozzle from firing slightly off target? Is this caused by a blockage of sorts? Should I persevere with the Widowlene cleaning method, or try something else such as using cleaning cartridges? Or is this an Epson engineer repair job?
Thanks to William, Paul and Patrick for the helpful replies, and for Nij's excellent support site http://www.mwords.co.uk/pages/printers/printersHowDoI.htm#WhichCleaner
Still working on the problem, hoping it will eventually clear up without having to resort to major surgery as referred to below.
But before major surgery with the squirty bottle, do realign the heads with
the paper stock you are using and run a CMYKRGB purge print at 180dpi.
Question, how does one realign the heads? Other than printing, the only options that I have in the Epson Monitor 3 application that I have are to check the ink levels and to do cleaning cycles followed by a nozzle test. Is there any other software I should have?
If I can find a way of realigning the heads, what difference does it make with which paper stock one uses, as it's a mechanical adjustment? Or am I missing something?
Remember when realigning the heads to switch off the printer - this forces
it to store the settings.
When exactly would I do this? Immediately after realigning?
System is: Epson 1160, Lyson Fotonics, CIS system, Lyson SFA paper, run the printer on a separate G3 station, Mac OS 9.2.2
I've had four 1160's since september and each showed problems with the yellow but eventually cleared with patience! Not easy when you have an urgent job! Three were replaced under guarantee for mechanical reasons. The fourth, my original two year old machine died as a result of too many cleaning attempts with windowlene - be careful!!Printers are great when they work, but what a pain when they don't!
