Ok, but what's the largest f-stop at 50mm setting?

Does the vignetting go away if you stop down one stop? If you have been
getting vignetting on a D1x it must be pretty bad on a full-frame body like
the DCS Pro SLR/n.

I will test it but doubt that I can borrow it for an aerial test ;) The
usage I need it for is both for aerial work, but I also do a lot of portrait
work, esp. kids that I need to track around (usually I am shooting on
locations in people's homes or gardens). Using a full-frame body all of a
sudden I feel 70mm is not long enough where it was just fine on the D1x.
Therefore I like to get a good zoom that is a bit longer than the 28-70mm
and the VR option should also be beneficial since I am shooting hand held
and sometime those kids move very fast!

Thanks for your input, helps a lot. I just love this list.
