. . .what I am looking for (to purchase) is . . .

The background is that after a wedding, we'll have around 2000 images, which
get edited down to 4-800, which we initially show to the client on CD, with
contact sheets. We are currently using PS7 to generate the contacts, and
(eek) powerpoint to put together the slide show.

Ppt lets us order the images and the timing of slides on screen (fine so
far)... But, it doesn't maintain the file name (replacing it with slide 34
etc), which causes a bit of a headache, when producing prints.

So, the ideal software will allow us to produce an ordered set of images,
retaining original file name, with the slide show and contact sheet having
the same running order (makes it easier for the client to make their
decisions, and for us to action them). If they can be ordered on a light
box, all the better. We already have actions to resize to 600pixels, sRGB
with (C) overlay.

The software IAIW would create a cross platform viewer, and would... Look
good.

Some of you have suggested iView products, and yes, iView does fulfill on the points required.

One can do just this using MediaPro and the royalty free, free iView Catalog Reader.

The steps are:

Create a catalog in iView MediaPro with the images and or audio files in the desired order to present to the client.

Using the Slide Show Options and Run Slide Show menus, create a customised slide show (e.g, set up media size, transition effects, grid, append voice annotations, timing, etc.) The slide show defaults to the same order as the catalog the user has created.

To Richard's particular file name request, the user can select 'Title' to show the filename in the slide show. Then copy the catalog, media, and iView Catalgo Reader to a CD and give it to the client. One can also print out a Contact Sheet which exactly duplicates the info and order displayed in the Slide show and catalog.

The plus points are all the resizing, reordering etc can be done in one application (MediaPro) and the client will use a license free application (Catalog Reader) to view (but cannot edit) the slide show.

Hope this is helpful.
