Nice one Steve! The fringing is certainly a form of Chromatic abberation but not the radial form our firmware fix copes with. It is caused by the wavelengths of light focussing at slightly different points and is very difficult for lens manufacturers to correct on WA zoom lenses. We reccommend prime lenses wherever possible for this reason. Having said that, most lenses, most of the time are ok. If you have CA fringing opening DCR files in Photoshop CS using the 2.2FFM can effect a cure, especially if you use the CA tools there.
