Had to formally calibrate what I thought was a good monitor (Mitsubishi Diamondtron), only to find that the only colour control was one that moves colour temperature in arbitrary steps. Result: an approximate calib was all that was possible. Even Ilyama monitors only have a similar option - or am I missing something?
