Glyn I'm of the same mind now. I also returned a LaCie and was very happy with the picture from the G420, even two years on! But their support is appalling when needed. OK, it wasn't even all over but I didn't expect that from a 19". However, you really had to look for the uneveness. I suppose you get what you pay for but at something like �400+, the G420 is not exactly what your average consumer would buy. I just expect better support from a company the size and reputation of Sony; a reputation that seems to be fast disappearing if lists are anything to go by!
