Sounds like you've tried a bunch of stuff. Two things come to mind: - I'm not 100% clear if you tried this but, when you print the target with no color management, do you get a decent black? If you get the same as the profiled system then (of course) the printer / paper combo is at fault....somehow I think you already looked at this one. - If you find your shadow detail is lacking, try scanning the target with the polarizing filter (Pol). If your grays are unstable you may want to roll the profile with a fluorescent illuminant.
