Actually like the Freudian slip in the question!

Kodak added what users affectionately refer to as a nose lock in later firmware versions. It keeps you from bumping buttons with your nose and turning on the LCD while your shooting. I can't recall what the menu item is called. Its not really obvious, but there's a setting that sets the camera so that only one button on the rear of the camera... the OK button... will activate the LCD. You have to push that button first before using the LCD and any of the other buttons. It effectively locks all of the buttons on the rear of the camera except one and unlocks them when you push that one button.
Go to "Review" menu [ 2nd from left ] in screen.
Scroll down to Display Activation - select << OK Only >>. The LCD will flash you an image as it is captured but after that you then have to use the "OK" button as Bob says to do anything on the back.
Personally I think this an essential feature if you shoot outside of a studio and carry the camera on your shoulder: it is all too easy for the buttons to be activated with simple body pressure and you will find, as indeed I did, that you have just spent some hours clambering up a steep mountain and the colour setting has been set to "Fluorescent".
