If your Anti Virus software is causing that sort of problem then you really ought to consider Sophos. A free download for a months trial is available from www.sophos.com Ive used it for 8 years without a hitch, when you uninstall it its a clean uninstall so new programmes can be installed before you reinstall. It cost about 190 for a 3 year licence and updates are mailed as and when a new virus is detected, which can be several per day. My supplier has a clever little script which enables to click on a desktop icon at anytime which contacts the sophos site and updates automatically I'm just a very satisfied customer with perhaps the only piece of software Ive ever bought which just works without a hitch.
