You can't profile a printer with non chromatic inks (or greyscale for that
matter).
If you use Quad black inks it's mostly down to curves adjustment.
Sorry if I was being sloppy with language, its not my area of expertise as the profiles I have from you and NeilB print perfectly acceptable neutrals from colour ink sets so I immediately lost interest.
However I am not alone, Lyson for example list 6 (generic) ICC profiles for their Quad black and 7 for small gamut on their site.
So what should we call them? If you fiddle with a printer to get it to produce the correct densities and smooth out the jumps and set the end points etc etc and stick the resulting printer instructions into an ICC tag, what state do we say the printer is in?
