What was once a vibrant, elitist group of imaging professionals has become a
humdrum talking shop where perhaps 50 people talk and 1500 listen. Those
1500 contribute nothing to the list so why are they on it?

Steve, with respect, if the "silent 1500" were as active as you would like
them to be your inbox wouldn't be big enough. Think about it! ;-)

I'm not trying to stop you learning or teaching. What I am saying is that
most list members only take & never give. For most of us it's a one way
transaction with little return.

So what, as long as those asking questions get the answer they require?

Just why should I teach people who never
ever give anything in return - I refer to the silent 1500 (or more)

Then don't teach. I must say, I find your post just a tad arrogant.

As for people not checking the archive before posting, which was raised by
other posters to this thread.......

This is the best freebie ever offered by Microsoft:

http://www.lookoutsoft.com/Lookout/

Those who use Outlook should download and install it. It's brilliant.

I keep all Prodig emails in a separate folder in my inbox. There are now
5867. The other day I wanted to read what had been posted on sharpening.
Lookout pulled out 132 hits in 2.3 seconds. Far, far simpler than fishing
around online in the Archive.
