Last week I delivered to a client 6 inkjets mounted onto foamboard.
nothing new here than BUT they were made up to 20 x24 inches and from files
they
provided.
All shot with cheapo digicams, the biggest file was 1 MB.
All were jpegs, all had serious artefacts showing.
They were "good enough" for a one off exhibition they were doing.
Ive produced work for them shot on scan back in the studio so they really do
know what the
quality from a digital file can be like.
Bottom line for them though is that all the shots were taken on locations
around the UK
showing what their product was capable of doing, so for them quality was not
the prime
issue,getting the shot was.
I have not suggested getting a better camera and shooting raw files because
they would no
doubt never use a professional again for outside work if they went that route.
I know a Pro would have used fill in flash etc but the reality is that the
shots they
supplied did indeed capture the moment regardless of quality.
Those of you supplying images to newspapers know only too well that its better
to supply
a crap image than none at all.
