OK, point taken. The video showed extreme cruelty, and the people
responsible for such cruelty are despicable. There are many other
cases in which animals are made to suffer for no reason other than
the convenience of the company exploiting them.
That said, I feel that the way to help stop these abuses is to focus
on them, and not use them as bait for a group with a much larger
agenda. PETA is more concerned with forcing their POV, in which
animals are equal to humans, than they are stopping any particular
case of abuse. Their leaders have opposed research on rats that could
cure AIDS, saying that the rats' lives are just as valuable as any
human life that could be saved. They oppose the use of any animal
product whatsoever, no matter how it is obtained. They are self-
righteous and convinced that they hold a higher truth, a truth that
justifies whatever actions they deem necessary.
If you truly want to *effectively* raise awareness of actual
cruelty, PETA isn't the organization to do it with. They have lost
any credibility in the eyes of most, despite the good intentions of
many of their members.
