Friends of ours have told us about their daughter who working at Thomas &
Betts. She is a filer working in the legal department I believe, and is
being offered a position in their IT dept. to become a programmer. I have
know this girl, woman for close to 8 years now. She is finishing up her
degree at the local university on the 6 + year plan. That is more for her
changing majors then any other reason.

She is very bright, in that she advanced a grade when they moved from Texas
to Memphis.

In all these years has she ever gotten into the computer except for it being
an appliance? Heck no!

I didn't laugh when I first heard this story but I wanted to say WTF?

T&B is also a terrible company to work for with respect to their attitude
towards employees. Or at least that was the word on the street. If you put
in 75 hours in the week by Sat., your co workers say you still have to come
in on Sunday to break that 80 hr. mark.
